ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL

As you are aware, our absence figures are constantly monitored by the DfES and by the Local Authority.  Should your child be absent from school for any reason, you should take the following steps:-

· Make a telephone call to school to report a pupil absence (before 10 am)

· Follow up the absence with a letter to the child’s class teacher giving reasons for absence.

Where possible, please try and avoid taking holidays during term-time, as this can have an adverse effect on your child’s education.  If you have to request permission to take your child out of school for a holiday, forms can be obtained from the school office.  However, please be aware that 4 weeks notice is required to process leave of absence applications.
