Manchester,
Hello.
We visited the school a couple of years ago to take some film of it to show my
father, who had been a pupil there in the 1920's.
I know see you have a couple of photo's from that era, one in 1927.
Do you have any names for the teachers and/or pupils?
Many thanks, Tricia

I was here 1988-1993, When Mr Bromley was Headteacher and Mrs Ash was the
School accountant/Clerk. Mrs Saxon was a classroom assistant (who told us during
storytime she was in her 90's, which i really doubted!)
Just want to say Hi to Mrs Hancock (Year 3) and Mrs Feeley (whom i had in Yr 4
and she gave me a rollicking i would never forget for swearing). Big up to my
best mate at the time (even now) Alexander Wong who lived in the chippy opposite
the school.
If anyone remembers me (i remember alot of you) then give us a shout!
(that means James McCluskey, Scott Pratt, Brian Clarke, Stephen Greenwood my
good mates, as well as the girls whom i wont name).

Hi, I attended this great School in the 1960s,like everyone else I remember Miss Hallows but also Mr Davies the French teacher who ran the school football team,I was not good enough to play but enjoyed watching them. The team had such players as Steve Hunt,Peter (freddy Mills)Jeff Davies are these lads still about, may be fathers or even granfathers of todays pupils. Its great to disscover that the School is still going strong.Good Luck and may all of you learn well.

I came to this site a while back by chance & read the archived posts. Reading these new posts brought a tear to my eye as it seems the current pupils love Manchester Road just as much as I did/do. I see the school every time I visit my Mum & I tell my own children (who are 8 & 10) all about the fun I had there & how special the teachers were. I just hope my children love their school (Poplar Street in Audenshaw) when they grow up half as much as I love Manchester Road :) To all the staff past & present - THANK YOU :)

I attended the school from 1953 to 1960, simply the happiest times of my life, I was Gwennie Powell then, it was a great school then with the most amazing teachers, especially Mr Millea who filled me with wonder when he read the books of Narnia to us, and it is good to see that the school is still having the same positive effect on children today. I went to manchester road until 1991, when i first started my grandad was the caretaker Mr W Roylance i remember only a few of my teachers, Mrs Waters, Mrs Lomas, Mr Blease, Mrs walker ,Mrs Norton and as i can never forget compulsory choir practice Mrs Owen. i often remember doing sports day on the field behind the school which now has houses on it i hope i`ve stirred some memories for a few people as i often wish i was still back there as it was the best time of my life John Roylance <j.roylance@ntlworld.com> droylsden, - Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 10:01:16 (CDT)

I attended Manchester Rd from 1949 to 1956. My two older brothers Don and Len also went to the same school a bit earlier. We lived on Merton Drive off Edge Lane, just next to St Andrew's Church. So many memories! Miss Tegg; my favourite teacher in primary was Miss Sumner. Pop Richards, Mr Milea, Mr Brewster, Mr Crowder (violin); Mr Wolfenden. Fights in the playground, fights in the hall, fights outside school, fights on the way home. We were barbarians disguised as little angels! I was in love with Melanie, Dorothy (became a nurse) and Gail (but she never noticed me!) Great times.
